Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Sales Manager to lead our new and used car sales operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a new car dealership environment the ability to coach and motivate sales teams to meet and exceed performance goals and the confidence to be hands-on in the sales process including strong closing skills.
This role also requires collaboration with Back Up Finance Manager duties ensuring deals are structured effectively while maintaining compliance and maximizing profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the new and used vehicle sales departments to achieve and exceed volume gross and CSI targets
Recruit train coach and motivate a high-performing sales team
Maintain an active presence on the showroom floor and online sales channels
Assist in closing deals and support sales staff during negotiations
Work closely with theFinance Manager to ensure smooth deal flow and optimal profitability
Monitor daily weekly and monthly sales metrics and adjust strategies as needed
Implement and enforce dealership sales processes and best practices
Ensure compliance with manufacturer lender and regulatory standards
Foster a customer-focused culture that drives repeat and referral business
Qualifications & Experience
5 years of automotive sales management experience preferably in a new car dealership environment
Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales and gross profit goals
Strong leadership coaching and team-building skills
Proven closing ability and comfort working directly with customers
Experience collaborating with F&I leadership including Assistant Finance Managers
Solid understanding of CRM systems inventory management and digital retailing tools
Excellent communication organizational and analytical skills
