The Transmission and Distribution Unit at AtkinsRéalis is offering a full-time position for a Control and Protection Engineer in Montreal QC.
The engineer in this role will be responsible for performing all design activities in compliance with applicable codes and standards including all AtkinsRéalis policies and procedures related to safety environment and quality assurance.
Carry out preliminary studies pre-project studies and detailed engineering for the refurbishment and development of substations and related facilities;
Prepare single-line diagrams for control and protection systems and AC/DC auxiliary services as well as layout drawings;
Prepare technical calculation notes for sizing/selection of equipment related to control and protection (current and voltage transformers etc.) and AC/DC auxiliary service equipment;
Perform load studies short-circuit studies and protection coordination studies;
Prepare relay protection settings and configuration files;
Prepare technical specifications wiring diagrams interconnection diagrams and layout drawings required for manufacturing control and protection panels;
Occasionally visit sites for surveys and measurements (equipment layout data collection technical support and grounding studies);
Work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary project team.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering;
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience particularly in engineering for control and protection of electrical equipment in substations power plants and related facilities;
Good knowledge of software such as ETAP ASPEN or EasyPower is an asset;
Knowledge of E3 software used by Hydro-Québec is an asset;
Experience with protection relays used in power plants and substations (SEL GE ABB Siemens and others) and in control and data acquisition systems (SCADA RTU etc.) is an asset;
Experience with software such as PSCAD or EMTP is an asset;
Experience working on projects for clients like Hydro-Québec and Rio Tinto is a major asset;
Demonstrated ability to write technical reports;
Practical knowledge of modern protection relay technologies for electrical networks;
Proficiency in French (written and spoken); bilingualism* is an asset;
Ability to succeed in a team environment contribute to unit objectives and demonstrate professionalism and collaboration.
*This position requires knowledge of another language besides French namely English as the work produced will be intended for audiences located elsewhere in Canada internationally or in another region of the world.
