Job Summary

We are seeking a Librarian with a heart for Christian ministry and a passion for delivering high-quality library services to students and staff. Based at our Perth campus this part-time role offers the opportunity to play a vital role at the heart of teaching and learning within the Heather and Noel Vose Library (HNV) one of Western Australias most respected theological libraries with a rich history since 1963 and a growing collection of over 51000 resources.

This role is ideal for a hands-on academic or specialist librarian who enjoys working directly with students staff and community borrowers delivering research assistance supporting library systems and collections.

As our Librarian you will:

  • Manage daily library operations on the Perth campus ensuring smooth welcoming and efficient service for students staff and community borrowers.
  • Work closely with the Library Director and collaboratively with interstate library colleagues across our multi-campus network (Perth Sydney Brisbane) and align service standards coordinate workforce planning and library initiatives.
  • Deliver high-quality user support and research assistance including orientations research skills workshops and one-on-one help.
  • Oversee the library management system and IT equipment ensuring all systems are functioning and up-to-date.
  • Support collection management across print and digital resources acquisitions cataloguing metadata maintenance licensing usage reviews deselection and preservation.
  • Collaborate with teaching faculty to support curriculum needs and resource discovery.
  • Supervise casual staff to maintain consistent service quality.
  • Provide backup support for reception and campus events and maintain a safe campus environment by assisting with WHS matters where needed.
  • This role is part-time 0.7 FTE 26.6 hours/week during business hours and includes one evening shift during the Semester weeks.
  • Remuneration: $77554/annum pro-rated to $54287/annum (excl. 12% Super).

Essential Attributes (please respond to these attributes in your Cover Letter):

  • Library qualification recognised by ALIA (e.g. Bachelor of Information Management / Library & Info Studies) eligibility for Associate Librarian membership preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years library experience with hands-on work in cataloguing customer service or resource management.
  • Commitment to delivering exemplary customer service and student/staff support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong digital literacy ability to quickly learn new systems and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Reliable self-directed worker with strong organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated Christian character and active involvement in an evangelical church.
  • Alignment of personal values beliefs and practices with the mission Staff Code ( and Christian ethos of Morling College.

Desirable Attributes

  • Familiarity with theology as a subject area.
