Description of Work
This is an Engineering Supervisor III position with the Signing & Delineation Unit/Western. This supervisory position is responsible for reviewing and approving internally or privately prepared signing and pavement marking plans specifications & estimates (PS&E) packages encroachment agreements and purchase order contracts. Inclusive with this responsibility is the review or approval of preliminary and final design concepts quantity estimates and specifications to measure compliance with state and federal guidelines using design software for sign messages and sign supports. Review complex signing and pavement marking plans with the Roadway Design Unit to ensure highway design elements meet federal guidelines regarding traffic flow and lane continuity.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Bachelors degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience including three (3) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
