Job Description:

Primary Purpose

The Kinesiologist (as a regulated health professional) at CCCARE provides advanced expertise in designing and delivering evidence-based exercise programs managing a diverse participant roster and mentoring students in clinical and community settings. This role involves delivering clinical exercise programming while providing leadership in work-integrated learning that fosters student development. By collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and contributing to research initiatives the Kinesiologist also ensures CCCAREs continued impact in promoting health independence and innovation in chronic disease management and wellness on campus and in the community.

Key Accountabilities

Participant-Centered Care

  • Design and implement personalized and group-based exercise prescriptions and participant education in alignment with evidence-based practice.

  • Manage a participant roster maintaining regular communication with participants and health professionals to support individual health goals.

  • Conduct assessments to determine physical capabilities health status and program suitability for a diverse range of individuals.

  • Responsible for clinical record keeping and documentation of participant progress outcomes and updates.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned participants regarding their care treatment and medical updates.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary health teams to deliver integrated care.

Student Mentorship and Supervision

  • Provides mentorship and supervision to work-integrated students interns and volunteers ensuring activities align with curriculum outcomes and clinical exercise best practices.

  • Facilitates hands-on learning by offering guidance feedback and opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.

  • Supports professional growth through reflective practices discussion self-assessment and collaborative evaluations with faculty/teaching staff to highlight competencies and areas for development.

  • Delivers comprehensive training via workshops demonstrations and guided practice to build student competency in clinical exercise principles and professional readiness.

Knowledge Translation

  • Consult and collaborate on research initiatives that enhance program quality participant outcomes and innovation in care delivery.

  • Support ongoing program evaluation activities using data-driven insights to refine exercise interventions and ensure alignment with current best practices and emerging evidence.

Contribute to the dissemination of program outcomes and research findings in formal settings to elevate CCCAREs profile as a leader in evidence-based care.

Professional Development and Leadership

  • Stays current with advancements in kinesiology exercise science and chronic disease management to inform best practices.

  • Actively engages in team meetings training and professional development to support continuous program improvement.

  • Demonstrates ethical conduct and professionalism in all aspects of work serving as a role model for peers.

Community Engagement and Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing community partners and stakeholders to support participant recruitment and program awareness.

Represent CCCARE in community outreach activities fostering partnerships and promoting the Departments mission and impact.

  • Assists with special projects and performs additional duties as required to support CCCAREs operations and goals.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

Bachelors degree in Kinesiology (or related field) required

Masters degree Kinesiology (or related field) preferred; equivalent professional experience in relevant discipline will also be considered

Registered Kinesiologist (Rkin) with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (General Class) required

Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification (CEP) required

Current First Aid/CPR (AED) required

Additional related certifications considered an asset

Experience

Demonstrated experience delivering advanced exercise programs for individuals with chronic conditions

Experience managing a client roster and providing tailored exercise prescriptions for diverse populations

Experience mentoring or supervising students or interns in a clinical exercise setting considered an asset.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong understanding of exercise science principles including the creation and delivery of safe exercise prescription for diverse populations

Familiarity with tools and methods for program evaluation and client progress tracking

Knowledge of current trends and advancements in kinesiology rehabilitation and exercise science

Strong leadership and mentorship skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and interdisciplinary collaboration

Ability to prioritize multiple demands with competing deadlines.
