Role Overview
OCU are recruiting Temporary Works Manager to work within our Energy division. This role will report directly into the Engineering Director and be responsible for overseeing temporary works across the full pipeline of projects. The role will be supported by the designated individual but the management of day-to-day operations will be with the TWM. The Temporary Works Manager (TWM) is responsible for the safe planning design coordination implementation inspection and removal of all temporary works across the Energy business ensuring compliance with relevant standards legislation and company procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop implement and maintain the Temporary Works procedure within the business
Ensure all temporary works are correctly classified designed checked approved installed used and dismantled.
Coordinate with Temporary Works Coordinators designers and site teams.
Brief designers on temporary works requirements and ensure adequate design solutions are provided.
Collate all evidence and support with the appointment of TWC and TWS.
Act as the main interface with temporary works design ensuring external design checks are carried out where required.
Develop and maintain an auditing process to ensure compliance across the business
Contribute to risk assessments method statements and safe systems of work.
Continuously improvement for managing TW design and construction processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Be the main point of contact for pre-construction teams providing TW registers during projects tenders.
Skills and Experience
Relevant construction-related qualification (e.g. Civil Engineering Construction Management).
Chartered desirable
Proven experience of managing construction (10 years minimum)
Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
CITB Temporary Works co-ordinator training
Proven experience managing temporary works on construction projects (minimum 5 years)
Knowledge of relevant standards and guidance (e.g. BS 5975).
SMSTS or equivalent
CITB or CSCS holder
Driving Licence required
Strong technical knowledge of temporary works systems and construction methods.
Excellent orgaisational and communication skills.
Ability to identify hazards and manage risk effectively.
Confident decision-maker with authority to challenge unsafe practices.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site operations.
