As a IV Registered Nurse at MercyOne you provide PICC line and midline insertions in the hospital. Will assist hospital staff with insertion of peripheral IV sites and troubleshooting Central Line
Schedule:
Part time 20 hours a week
Shifts could be 8 10 or 12 hours
has a Holiday and Weekend rotation
General Requirements:
Inserts PICC lines and midlines per request of physician order.
Assist staff with difficult peripheral IV starts troubleshooting lines accessing ports and declotting PICC lines.
Collaborates with infusion team members physicians pharmacists and hospital staff to coordinate and provide care.
Takes call if needed and cover holiday rotation.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
Provides education to patients families significant others and peers.
Maintains accurate current complete documentation according to policy in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Assess existing and potential problem areas collecting data and reports significant information to the Lead IV RN/Supervisor
Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.
Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPAA regulations.
Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs.
Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy reflecting the organizations Mission Values and Guiding Behaviors.
Supports and abides by all medical center departmental and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor manager or department head.
Education:
Current State Registered Nurse License or permit from State Board of Nursing required.
Completion of ADN BSN preferred.
Completion of PICC course post-hir.
Must have demonstrated competence in an acute patient care setting for at least one year in medical surgical or intensive care setting.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider American Heart Association; or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status
Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years
Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Level II Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management class or equivalent within 3 months of hire and annual skill validation for Cardiac Dysrhythmias (Does not apply to MFHL resource nurse functioning as a triage nurse only).
