Job Summary
Provides direct patient care in the outpatient surgical setting using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
Essential Functions- Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments and other medical care activities.
- Documents patient care provided.
- Monitors records and communicates patient condition to the care team physician patient and family.
- Performs all areas of perioperative care to include pre-op intra-op and post-op
- Evaluates learning needs of patients and families; provides education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Patient Populations Served: Neonate Infant Early Childhood Late Childhood Adolescent Young Adult Middle Adult Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic Clinical Insurance Financial Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients blood body fluids or specimens.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients kneeling and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.
Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.
Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
License: /Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BLS ACLS and PALS required.
