Job Summary

The Division of Thoracic Surgery is seeking a full-time thoracic surgeon. The team is well supported by a multidisciplinary team of respirologists gastroenterologists medical and radiation oncologists as well as thoracic anaesthetists to provide compassionate care. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees as well as an on-call stipend.

Accountabilities:

  • Work primarily out of Brampton Civic Hospital
  • Participate as an equal member of the division with on-call duties

About the program

Osler is a designated Level 1 centre for thoracic surgery and meets all requirements set out by Cancer Care Ontario. As a centre of excellence for minimal access surgery we perform more than 95% of lung resections for primary lung cancer and esophageal resections for malignant disease using minimally invasive techniques. We developed the first lung cancer screening program in Canada and have screened over 2000 patients since its inception. Our strong partnership with oncology and pathology provides excellent access to clinical trials and nextgeneration addition the Division of Thoracic Surgery maintains partnerships with Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. We have also recently launched a thoracic surgery robotics program utilizing the da Vinci platform further expanding our commitment to innovation and advanced patient care.


Qualifications :

  • Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be certified or eligible for certification in thoracic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Expertise in both benign and malignant thoracic disease processes
  • Proficiency in minimally invasive skills; there is also the opportunity for robotic surgery
  • Demonstrate strong interprofessional skills and communication skills
  • Additional languages are an asset as we serve a diverse population base

Osler is a primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine and is an academic community partner with the University of Torontos Temerty Faculty of Medicine and McMasters Michael G.
