Job Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician will support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the delivery of anesthesia care. The technician will be responsible for preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies ensuring a sterile environment and assisting in patient monitoring before during and after procedures.
Hours:
- .6 FTE - 24 Hours Per Week
- Monday through Friday shifts
- 2 12-Hour Shifts
Essential Job Functions:
- Assemble and check all equipment and machines prior to procedures to ensure proper functioning
- Stock and prepare medications fluids and anesthesia-related supplies needed for procedures
- Assist anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetists during induction spinals maintenance and emergent phase of anesthesia
- Ensure the maintenance of aseptic and sterile techniques when handling equipment and supplies
- Monitor equipment functionality troubleshoot calibrate and maintain anesthesia equipment and report malfunctions promptly
- Decontaminate sterilize and properly store reusable equipment and tools after procedures
- Move anesthesia carts machines and monitoring equipment to different operating rooms as needed
- Track supply levels reorder items and rotate stock to avoid expiration
- Support staff in properly positioning patients for procedures to ensure safety and optimal access for anesthesia deliver
- Provide immediate support during code situations or anesthesia-related emergencies by preparing necessary equipment
- Assist with cleanup of the anesthesia work area and turnover of rooms between cases
- Participate in the departments on-call rotation and respond promptly to call-ins to ensure continuous patient care and surgical support as needed
- Promptly report and document any occurrences of unusual events safety concerns or incidents in accordance with organization policies and procedures
- Use the organizations secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols including timely receipt and responses to communications
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Medical Terminology
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Quality assurance and accreditation standards
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations patient confidentiality laws and patient rights
- Awareness of pharmacological agents used in anesthesia
- Effective English communication in verbal and written format
- Quality work including attention to detail and accuracy
- Carry out customer service standards
- Basic computer proficiency
- Prioritize tasks effectively through managing workload based on urgency and importance
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Continuously lean and improve through staying up to date on job specific trends policies and new technologies
- Successfully demonstrate organization-wide performance review competencies
Qualifications
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
- Two-year degree from an accredited college or technical school is preferred
- BLS certification is required upon hire
- Previous experience in a hospital environment is required
- Must possess a cell phone that interfaces with the organizations secure message system
