Why Your Role Matters:

The Head of Health & Safety Performance & Improvement provides enterprise-wide strategic leadership shaping the organisations Health & Safety direction through oversight of systems data analytics reporting risk & assurance programs communication and the management of major strategic initiatives. The role is accountable for developing the architecture and governance of the Universitys ISO-aligned Health & Safety Management System; leads the transformation of H&S platforms reporting and assurance capability; and has oversight of the occupational hygiene specialists enabling both key risk profile management and significant compliance functionality.

By driving continuous improvement increasing risk visibility and fostering organisational learning the position ensures that Health & Safety remains a key strategic enabler. Operating with significant autonomy and institutional visibility the position leads a specialist team responsible for systems analytics risk communications and strategic programs of work that drive performance uplift foster organisational learning and align safety practices with the Universitys strategic objectives.

Who You Are:

  • Extensive experience in Health & Safety leadership overseeing Health & Safety data and management systems risk & assurance data/analytics and program management.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with significant and sustained relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
  • Demonstrated success simplifying complex management systems and creating a single source of truth with strong adoption.
  • Track record of continuous improvement and service design with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Proven record of managing multiple datasets and configuring data systems to design simple user-friendly tools.
  • Strong experience defining and implementing Health & Safety critical risk management approaches.
  • Expertise in metrics and KPI design data quality control analytics data insight and narrative for reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience designing audit / assurance programs and driving action closure and control effectiveness.
  • Strong program / project management skills and an ability to use planning and monitoring tools to oversee project delivery and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to influence and align diverse groups.
  • Proven capability in team leadership coaching and capability uplift.
  • Substantial knowledge and understanding of a systems approach to problem-solving and its implementation.
