University Prep is seeking two talented engaging and compassionate Middle School Girls Ultimate Coaches to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. We are looking for an individual committed to the academic social and emotional needs and fluctuations of Middle School students; someone who can work effectively independently as well as part of a team. We need a leader who understands best practices in teaching ultimate and who is passionate about teaching to middle school students and enhancing student life. Job Summary:

Under general supervision leads one of the two Middle School girls ultimate teams. Season begins on March 14th Practices held twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00pm 4:30pm). All matches are held between 2:30pm 6:00pm.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Discusses game strategy and techniques with Varsity coaching staff
• Conducts player evaluations during tryouts and mid-season review
• Manages player development based on program core competencies

• Works with Asst. Athletic Dir. and Middle School coaching staff to create practice plans that are skill appropriate
• Teaches appropriate fundamentals techniques and skills
• Is responsible for the health and safety of the athletes
• In cooperation with Varsity Head Coach articulates a well-defined and understandable coaching philosophy
• Applies developmentally appropriate and age appropriate methods to coaching student-athletes
• Emphasizes sportsmanship and leadership among athletes
• Clearly communicates to players parents administrators and staff
• Positively motivates athletes and promotes teamwork
• Directs off-court curriculum
• Attends all meetings and trainings as required by the league and/or Athletic Director
• Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the schools documents
• Since safety and security are everyones responsibility takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students faculty staff equipment materials and facilities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Salary:

• Salary Stipend is based on experience and ranges from $2200-$3000
• Stipend paid in three installments three installments (last working day of March April and May)

Required Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Bachelors degree in physical education or related field from a four-year college or university preferred
• Demonstrated competence and experience in coaching ultimate required
• Recent successful coaching experience in a Middle School environment preferred
• Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Must be a strong successful ultimate player
• Deep knowledge of the intricacies of the game of ultimate frisbee
• Understanding of the developmental needs of middle school- aged students
• Efficient well organized and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
• Professional manner discretion and appearance
• Sense of humor energy and enthusiasm and ability to hold students and oneself to high expectations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
• Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Commitment to diversity equity and inclusivity

• Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
• Ability to stand stoop kneel crouch bend walk and talk
• Ability to use hands on materials or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work outside in any weather
• Some local travel may be required
