Fire Protection and Life Safety Engineer
Osborn Engineering is seeking a Fire Protection and Life Safety Engineer with 5 years of experience for our who will report to the Manager of Fire Protection Engineering. The ideal candidate would have proficient knowledge of Revit and Fire Protection design in the Consulting Engineering environment with a preferred background in Smoke Control Rational Analysis and modeling.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform analysis design and documentation of fire protection systems.
Develop fire protection strategies performance-based design approaches and alternative solutions to providesolutionsfor clients.
Conduct building and fire code studies and life safety evaluationsindependently or with little oversight or training.
Coordinate with otherA/Edisciplines for all Fire Protection design elementsincluding but not limited to architectural MEP civil and structural.
Prepare design deliverables forA/ESD DD CD level documentsindependently or with minimal oversight or trainingincluding but not limited to written reports/narratives drawings and specifications.
Meet with contractors during the bid phase to review the design details.
Perform field verification of existing systems for renovation projects.
Perform project construction administration including response to RFIs and accurate review of submittals.
Review designs prepared by others as part of Osborns QA/QC process.
Attend meetings with clients authorities having jurisdiction and other professionals as projects require.
Work planning and manage the design process to the available hours in the work plan.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 yearsof Fire Protection Design Experience in Consulting Engineering.
Proficient knowledge of fire protectionand life safety systemsdesign and modeling software such as Revit. (Required)
Proficient knowledge of fire protectionand life safety systemsdesign and modeling software such as PyroSim CFAST CONTAM etc. (Preferred)
Proficient knowledge of local and national building codes life safety and fire code requirements including both ICC-based codesand NFPA codesand standards
Working knowledge of industry standards and guidelines including but not limited to UFC and FM
Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
Experience in designing Healthcare Sports Commercial Public Sector Industrial Education and/or Institutional projects.
Proficient knowledge of Smoke Control Rational Analysis and Design. (Preferred)
Excellent Organizational and Communication skills.
Ability to work on projects with a multi-disciplinary team with minimal oversight.
Ability to work on and manage several tasks concurrently.
Proactive and Collaborative team member.
Bachelors degree in ABET-accredited engineering preferred or NICET level certification in fire suppression and/or fire alarm systems.
FPE or PE License. (Preferred)
