The Project Quality Engineer will be responsible for executing project quality activities for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Advanced Nuclear projects.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform Quality activities for Advanced Nuclear projects for compliance to regulatory customer and GVH internal requirements.
  • Perform project execution activities for Advanced Nuclear projects for procured product.
  • Work proactively with suppliers to define specific quality requirements including development of inspection verification and qualification processes in addition to tests and processes to assure products and services meet the GVH and customer quality requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers toward assuring product/process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Work proactively with suppliers to resolve quality concerns applying technical and quality expertise to deliver project quality requirements.
  • Execute supplier quality surveillance program for New Reactor activities.
  • Disposition of supplier non-conforming products.
  • Write and review technical quality documents plans and procedures.
  • Support future error prevention through the use of the corrective action processes.
  • Supporting and performing oversight of Electrical commodity work scopes.
  • Supporting and performing oversight of Instrumentation and Controls work scopes.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or other Technical degree from an accredited college or university with at least 4 years of experience in the commercial nuclear industry
  • OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 8 years of experience in the commercial nuclear industry.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering manufacturing manufacturing engineering support or working in a nuclear quality assurance related capacity.

Eligibility Requirements

  • This role requires working onsite at the GVH offices in Markham ON. 2 days a week.
  • Must be willing to travel to supplier and customer sites as required. (Up to 40% globally).

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in science or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear customers industry programs and competitive environments.
  • Exhibit a strong Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Experience in Non-destructive examination (NDE) processes (X-Ray Ultrasonic Liquid Penetrant etc.).
  • Experience with ASME Code (Section IX Welding and Brazing qualifications and Section XI In-service inspections).
  • Experience solving welding related issues.
  • Experience with Electrical/Electronics Industry Standards (IEEE IEC IPC NEMA ANSI)
  • Experience with analog and digital control systems including microprocessor electronic and pneumatic instrumentation and controls.
  • Experience in conducting quality inspections of equipment components or systems to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • A good understanding of the safety lifecycle for Instrument & Controls safety systems.
  • Experience with high integrity software-based protection and/or safety control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming and system integration SCADA configuration and software testing techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a customer focused team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to GEH supplier facilities/sites.
  • Demonstrated self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; proven ability to develop team relationships.
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership at supplier and/or regulatory organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated desire to be involved in a rapidly changing and challenging work environment.
  • Previous or Current Quality Lead Auditor certification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ASME NQA-1 CSA N299 and CSA N285 standards and ISO-9001.
  • 2 years of experience in a Nuclear quality role.

The base pay range for this position is$106900..00 CAD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety offactors including the candidates experience education and skill set. This position is also eligible for a10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
