The leadership team strongly believes in early intervention and has developed a robust pastoral and SEND support framework. With an increasing number of pupils requiring behavioural and emotional support across EYFS and Key Stage 1 the school is now seeking an experienced and compassionate Behaviour Mentor.
As a Behaviour Mentor you will support children who struggle with emotional regulation behaviour management and social interaction. Pupils may present with SEMH needs ASD ADHD communication difficulties or trauma-related behaviours.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted interventions emotional support and consistent behaviour strategies. This role requires a calm patient and child-centred approach.
Provide 1:1 mentoring and emotional support
Deliver small group behaviour and social skills interventions
Support pupils in classroom and play-based learning environments
Assist children during transitions and unstructured times
Implement and review behaviour support plans
Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches
Collaborate with teachers EYFS staff SENCO and pastoral teams
Track monitor and report on pupil progress
Build strong relationships with families and carers
Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards
You will be empathetic resilient and passionate about working with young children. The school is seeking someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can support children with consistency and compassion.
You should demonstrate:
Experience in a Primary Nursery or EYFS setting
Knowledge of SEND SEMH and early childhood development
A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in childcare education psychology youth work or mental health is highly desirable.
