The leadership team strongly believes in early intervention and understands that behaviour difficulties in young children often reflect unmet emotional social or developmental needs. With a rising number of pupils requiring additional behavioural support across EYFS and Key Stage 1 the school is now seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team.
As a Behaviour Mentor you will support pupils who experience challenges with emotional regulation behaviour for learning or social interaction. Pupils may present with SEMH needs ASD ADHD speech and language difficulties or trauma-related behaviours.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide consistent behaviour strategies and targeted interventions helping pupils to develop confidence emotional awareness and positive behaviour habits.
Provide 1:1 mentoring and emotional support
Deliver small group behaviour and social skills interventions
Support children in Nursery and classroom settings
Assist with transitions and unstructured times
Implement and review behaviour support plans
Use trauma-informed and play-based strategies
Collaborate with teachers EYFS staff SENCO and pastoral teams
Observe track and report on pupil progress
Contribute to planning and review meetings
Build positive relationships with parents and carers
Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards
You will be patient nurturing and emotionally resilient with a strong commitment to supporting young children. The school is seeking someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can respond with empathy consistency and professionalism.
You should have:
Experience working in a Primary Nursery or EYFS environment
Knowledge of SEND SEMH and early childhood development
A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in childcare education psychology youth work or mental health is highly desirable.
