The Opportunity:

Are you an experienced information specialist with a passion for public service Bring your expertise to Multnomah County where you will directly support the nationally recognized Multnomah County District Attorneys office.

The Information Specialist 3 plays a key role in supporting the operations maintenance and improvement of IT systems that deliver technical services across our office. As part of the Help Desk team youll handle a wide range of responsibilitiesfrom initial troubleshooting to complex issue resolution and escalation coordinationensuring our technology runs smoothly and efficiently.

This position is located at the Multnomah County Central Courthouse 1200 SW 1st Avenue Suite 5200 Portland Oregon 97204. The work schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with the possibility of a hybrid schedule once training is completed.

As an Information Specialist 3 you will be responsible for the following but not limited to the primary job duties:

Problem and Incident Management

  • Respond to and resolve a broad spectrum of IT incidents and service requests.

  • Analyze incident trends and root causes to recommend long-term solutions.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues.

  • Develop and maintain incident response documentation and workflows.

  • Share knowledge and troubleshooting strategies with peers to support team effectiveness.

Software and Hardware Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate records of software licenses and hardware assets throughout their lifecycle.

  • Procure IT equipment peripherals and software based on user and departmental needs.

  • Track and manage software licenses renewals and subscription-based services.

  • Monitor inventory and anticipate purchasing needs based on lifecycle usage and staffing changes.

  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery contract compliance and service quality.

  • Generate reports and analytics to support asset tracking audit readiness monthly spending reconciliation and annual budgeting efforts.

IT Operations Process Improvement and Project Management

  • Lead or contribute to initiatives that improve IT operational processes including procurement deployment and retirement of assets.

  • Conduct audits and gap analyses to identify inefficiencies in current workflows.

  • Document and implement process improvements in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Manage small to mid-sized IT projects such as infrastructure upgrades cloud migrations cybersecurity initiatives and computer refresh cycles.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams track progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.

  • Provide recommendations to leadership on strategic IT initiatives.

Training and Resource Development

  • Develop and maintain internal and user-facing documentation including SOPs FAQs and training materials.

  • Design and deliver training content for both IT staff and end users.

  • For end users: provide technical training on software applications cybersecurity practices and IT tools.

  • For IT staff: deliver both technical and procedural training to support professional development and operational consistency.

  • Create onboarding resources and structured learning paths to support knowledge transfer.

  • Implement tools and practices to support knowledge capture reuse and continuous improvement.

TO QUALIFY:

We will consider any combination of relevant work experience volunteering education and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Required Minimum Qualifications / *Transferable Skills:

  • Equivalent to an associates degree and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 5-8 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

  • Proven experience in desktop support or IT support roles with troubleshooting skills

  • Strong grasp of desktop hardware operating systems common software networking basics and mobile device support.

Preferred Special Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

  • Experience in public sector IT operations or criminal justice environments.

  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and asset management tools.

  • Strong analytical communication and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative cross-functional team environment.

  • Candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check and post-offer urine drug screen.

Type of Position: This hourly union-represented position is eligible for overtime.
