The Mechanic Manager oversees daily maintenance operations across all Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative (LPVEC) garages to ensure that all vehicles are safe reliable and compliant with state and federal regulations including Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The Manager provides direct oversight of mechanics coordinates repairs and maintains consistent maintenance standards across all locations. The Manager works closely with the Transportation Department management team to prioritize repairs that support daily operations. The Manager also ensures proper documentation manages inventory and enforces safety policies while serving as a technical resource and leader for garage and supervise daily maintenance and repair tasks at all LPVEC garage locations.2. Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and pass all necessary state and RMV inspections successfully.3. Assign prioritize and oversee work orders to reduce vehicle downtime and ensure operational readiness.4. Oversee mechanics through supervision training and performance management.5. Collaborate with the General Manager to organize the registration of new vehicles.6. Review approve and process all mechanics weekly timesheets.7. Act as a technical expert in diagnosing complex mechanical problems and approving major repairs.8. Ensure consistent compliance with maintenance procedures safety protocols and documentation standards across all garage locations.9. Keep detailed records of inspection reports and regulatory compliance documents for on-site fuel tanks.10. Oversee parts inventory ordering processes and cost management across all garage locations.11. Assist with hiring training and managing disciplinary actions for garage staff according to organizational policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.12. Respond to emergency situations both during and outside regular work hours to handle immediate safety or operational concerns.13. Gather review and approve all mechanical invoices and packing slips working with Accounts Payable to ensure prompt and accurate payment.14. Ensure correct functionality of in-bus technology with regular reports and periodic system inspections.15. Maintain and oversee the Daily Out-of-Service spreadsheet including monitoring potential vehicle trades.16. Submit repair requests for garage equipment and facilities via the Building Maintenance system.17. Track diagnostic software subscriptions and check renewal dates to prevent interruptions.18. Coordinate all necessary documentation for warranty and recall repairs.19. Work with management to review purchase order balances and oversee the vehicle maintenance budget.20. Assist with developing and regularly updating vehicle and parts bid specifications.21. Serve as a substitute bus driver when operational needs arise. 22. Transport tools equipment supplies and other materials as required to support maintenance operations.23. Assist with snow removal tasks which might take place outside of normal work hours.24. Demonstrate the ability to perform all duties related to Tech A Tech B and Tech C classifications.25. Conduct yearly evaluations of the mechanics at all LPVEC garage locations.26. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Transportation General Manager and the Executive Director.
