What is the role
The Senior Automation Engineer leads the development and implementation of advanced automated manufacturing solutions at Aerogen. This role leverages expertise in cutting-edge automation technologies coordinates multidisciplinary projects from concept through validation collaborates with machine vendors and mentors internal engineers to deliver innovative robust automation systems that drive operational excellence.
What are the key responsibilities
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve automation systems in Aerogen.
- Coordinate and manage automation projects across all lifecycle stages including User Requirement Specification (URS) Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) Installation Qualification (IQ) Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ).
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate expertise in coordinating multidisciplinary projects involving mechanical electrical and automation systems ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives establishing root cause and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate closely with automation providers to develop and implement optimal machine design control systems.
- Participates within project teams provides technical support and makes informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
- Continuously work to identify opportunities through technology and automation to improve Aerogen processes and systems.
- Support equipment uptime through fault-finding of complex automation equipment issues.
- Continuously scan and evaluate emerging automation technologies integrating leading-edge solutions into Aerogens manufacturing processes to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
- Mentor and coach team members fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Act as a role model for Aerogen We Care Cultures and Values.
- Perform other assigned tasks and support all aspects of Engineering as directed by Manager or Head of Department.
What education and experience are required
- A minimum of Level 8 degree in a relevant STEM discipline.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience.

- Technical Experience Established SME of automation introduction of new processes and technology process development and technology transfer with proven ability to mentor and coach others.
- Data analysis: You have ability to analyse data and present in a logical way that others can take action with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong Problem-Solving capability: You will lead root cause analysis and experiments by applying problem-solving methodology and lead the development of potential solutions to achieve improvements. Mentor and coach others in tools. You share learnings and knowledge.
- Creative thinking: You will apply engineering principles to advance ideas from concepts to value-added results. You actively seek ways of applying best practices in your area of expertise in Aerogen.
- Project Planning: Leads and executes project deliverables by planning monitoring adjusting and communicating project activities to ensure that project deliverables timelines risks and budgets are met including developing contingency plans.
- Collaboration: You are a strong collaborator you are an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills; written verbal and presentation. Identifies and addresses roadblocks in respectful and accountable way.
- Experience working in medical device manufacturing maintaining and improving processes with good understanding of ISO 13485:2016 and FDA requirements as these apply to this role.
