We are currently hiring a Medical Laboratory Aide for a reputed hospital in Dublin Ireland.

Responsibilities
Receive check sort and accurately label specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols and quality standards.
Perform patient and test request entry onto the Laboratory Information System (LIS) ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Assist in post-analytical processes including the filing storage archiving and appropriate disposal of samples tissue blocks and slides.
Manage enquiries and specimen deliveries at the histology reception area in a professional and timely manner.
Operate pre-analytical laboratory equipment supporting all stages of the pre-analytical workflow including presenting specimens to automated systems.
Assist in the operation routine care and basic management of laboratory equipment reporting faults in line with procedures.
Adhere strictly to health & safety infection prevention and control and quality management requirements.
Maintain accurate records and comply with laboratory policies SOPs and accreditation standards.
Requirements
Have previous experience working in a hospital laboratory or science laboratory or
Be currently employed within the Irish Health Service with a minimum of 12 months experience or
Hold a qualification to a minimum standard of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 5 (or higher) in Laboratory Skills or a related discipline.
Effective communication skills
Strong teamworking abilities and capacity to build effective working relationships
Sound knowledge of health & safety principles in a laboratory environment
Commitment to personal and professional development
Understanding of laboratory procedures relevant legislation and quality standards
Demonstrated person-centred focus in service delivery
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment
Appropriate technical skills relevant to laboratory support roles
A recognised science-related qualification
Experience using IT systems preferably a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Previous experience working in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory environment
