Job Summary
The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science Characterisation Materials Science Defence Composite Materials Functional Composite Materials Energy Nanomaterials Low Dimensional Materials Biomaterials Biological Materials Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials. For more details please visit are looking for a Research Assistant to develop documentation for self-driving lab hardware and software protocols. The role will focus on ultra-low cost self-driving lab systems reproducing systems via 3D printing programming microcontroller firmware and producing comprehensive documentation to enable replication of these systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the conduct of research project with research team members to ensure completion of deliverables
Configure microcontroller systems such as Arduino units.
Develop ultra-low cost self-driving labs
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder on self-driving labs
Assist in grant writing
Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers
Assist or Produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings
Assist with instruction for relevant classes
Assist with group administration
Job Requirements:
Bachelor in relevant engineering or science discipline
At least 1 years of relevant experiences in similar role or technical hands-on experience
Familiarity with microcontroller programming 3D printing or laboratory automation is advantageous
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in programming languages and strong numerical and analytical abilities
Excellent time management skills
Ability to develop solutions under strict timelines
Meticulous and attention for details
