Job Summary

This position is responsible for operating an automation cell within the Bending/Press Brake Division to fabricate metal parts of varying sizes and shapes. The role focuses on 5-axis milling operations and requires a strong understanding of machining processes precision measurement and continuous improvement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate automation cell and CNC machinery following established processes

  • Manually inspect and set up machines using hand tools as required

  • Inspect install and change fixtures as necessary

  • Load parts into fixtures and machines

  • Set dials switches and programs to initiate machining processes

  • Monitor machine operation and prepare for subsequent parts

  • Evaluate procedures and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and adaptability

  • Maintain industrial machines using knowledge of mechanics shop mathematics metal properties layouts and machining procedures

  • Review blueprints drawings and engineering documentation to determine machining methods sequences dimensions and tolerances

  • Measure examine and test completed parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers) to ensure conformance to specifications

  • Collaborate with design supervisory and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information

  • Move between multiple machines within the cell as workload requires

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a 2-year Machine Tool Technology or Tool & Die program OR currently enrolled as a second-year student in Machine Tool Technology or Tool & Die

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skillset

  • Ability to set up machines and edit programs; working knowledge of G & M codes required

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints routings and technical documentation

  • Solid understanding of machining mathematics including (but not limited to) algebra and trigonometry

  • Willingness and ability to move freely among all cell machines as production demands require

  • Continuous standing and walking for 810 hours per shift (up to 4 hours at a time)

  • Continuous lifting carrying pushing or pulling up to 10 lbs

  • Rare lifting carrying pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs

  • Frequent cervical bending when checking progress or programming

  • Continuous repetitive use of forearms wrists and hands for grasping bending and twisting

  • Rare repetitive use of hands for pounding or low-speed assembly work

  • Frequent unilateral and bilateral reaching; handling and manipulating materials

  • Continuous visual requirements including close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and focus

  • Continuous use of eye protection (company-provided safety equipment; posted requirements apply)

  • Continuous exposure to an indoor manufacturing environment

  • Continuous exposure to moderate noise levels

Definitions:

  • Continuous: 58 hours per shift

  • Frequent: 25 hours per shift

  • Occasional: Up to 2 hours per shift

  • Rare: Up to 48 minutes per shift

    • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM3:00 PM or 8:00 AM4:00 PM (based on business needs)

Compensation

  • Pay Range: DOE

  • Machinist Pay Scale: $28.00 $39.00 per hour
