The Principal Supplier Quality Engineer Electronics is a senior technical leader responsible for defining advancing and governing supplier quality strategy for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) electronic components and wire harnesses across GE Appliances global supply base. This role drives enterprise-level improvements in supplier capability product robustness and Cost of Quality (COQ) through deep technical expertise cross-functional leadership and external supplier influence.
This position operates with significant autonomy leads highly complex and high-risk initiatives sets quality standards and best practices and serves as a subject matter expert and mentor for Supplier Quality Engineers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Supplier Quality Leadership
- Define and drive supplier quality strategy standards and governance for PCBA electronic components and wire harness commodities.
- Serve as the enterprise Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electronics supplier quality influencing design sourcing and manufacturing decisions.
- Establish best practices standard work and quality frameworks that are deployed across programs platforms and regions.
Advanced Technical & Risk Leadership
- Lead Critical Part Risk Reviews and advanced failure analysis for complex high-impact or systemic quality risks affecting product performance reliability or safety.
- Apply deep expertise in electronics design manufacturing processes and test methodologies to influence supplier process capability and product design robustness.
- Anticipate emerging risks and proactively drive preventative actions across the supply base.
New Product Introduction & Change Governance
- Provide technical and quality leadership for high-complexity NPI programs major design changes supplier transitions and localization initiatives.
- Own and govern PPAP strategy and execution standards for electronics commodities ensuring consistency and rigor across teams.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams through the 9-step problem-solving process for systemic or escalated issues.
Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Drive enterprise-level supplier performance improvement using data analytics Supplier Composite Scorecards and leading quality indicators.
- Lead fix-or-exit strategies for critical or underperforming suppliers including qualification of alternate sources and development of long-term supplier capability roadmaps.
- Identify and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies processes and supplier innovations to improve quality delivery and cost.
Organizational & Cross-Functional Influence
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on supplier quality risks trade-offs and strategic decisions.
- Translate complex technical and quality information into clear concise executive-level communications for Appliance Leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Influence outcomes across Engineering Sourcing Manufacturing Technology and external suppliers in a highly matrixed global environment.
Talent & Capability Development
- Mentor and technically guide Supplier Quality Engineers and cross-functional partners raising overall organizational capability.
- Lead or contribute to training technical reviews and knowledge-sharing forums related to electronics supplier quality.
What Youll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a technical discipline (Electrical Mechanical Physics Chemistry Mathematics or equivalent).
- 7 years of experience in Supplier Quality Manufacturing Quality or related technical roles.
- Significant experience with PCBA and/or Wire Harness design manufacturing or supplier quality management.
- Deep understanding of electronic systems components and their integration within complex product architectures.
- Advanced proficiency with statistical methods and quality tools including SPC Control Plans Process Capability Gage R&R PFMEA DFMEA and DOE.
- Extensive experience leading structured problem-solving efforts (e.g. 8D SCAR Six Sigma) for complex or systemic issues.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large ambiguous cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence decisions at senior leadership levels.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8 years of experience in electronics design manufacturing or supplier quality leadership.
- Lean Manufacturing expertise and Six Sigma certification (Green Belt Black Belt or higher).
- Prior international work experience and/or multilingual capability.
- Experience leading supplier transformations major supplier transitions or platform-level NPIs.
- Graduate of a GEA leadership or technical development program (e.g. OMLP SCDP TLP EEDP).
