Senior Engineer Interconnection and Planning

EPE is looking to recruit a Senior Engineer with a background inGen/LoadInterconnection or Transmission Planning studies in theEastern Interconnection and preference for strong background in EMT modeling.In this role you will work closely with senior leadership to support our growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise both internally through coaching and developing staff as well as externally to our clients.

Howyou can make an impact:

• Perform complexload and generationinterconnection studies includingloadflow short circuit and transient stability across multiple ISOs and Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect. Ideally focusing onPJM.

• Perform PSCAD and PSS/E model benchmarking for both generation and load projectsin accordance withexisting or emerging requirements toassistclients indemonstratingcompliance.

• Support more junior members of staffleveragingyourtechnical skills toassistthem in troubleshooting complex technical issues.

• Review of interconnection studies replicatefindingsandidentifycreative pathways to remove roadblocks reduce cost assigned toprojectsandexpeditetimelines to interconnection.

• Support generation large load and merchant transmission developers navigate interconnection processes across the Eastern Interconnect.

• Demonstrate extreme ownership by taking responsibility for outcomes decisions and overall project success.

• Collaborate with other team members oninterconnection related studies and stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes.

• Support the development of new products and services

• Carry outadditionalduties as assigned.

Bring your passion heres whats needed:

Qualifications

• Minimum4years of experience in the electric energy industry.

• Experience in at least a couple of the following areas: IBR modelling Load modelling gen/load interconnection studies transmission planning studies EMT studies. For this role we are looking for engineers who have performed at least a couple of the following types of studies (PJM Generator Deliverability StudiesPJM stability modelingPSSE/PSCAD benchmarking studiesload interconnection studies replicating ISO/Utility practices)

• Strong understanding of FERCNERCand ISO interconnection requirements and standards.

• In-depth knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages: PSSE TARA PSLFPowerWorld. ASPEN and PSCAD
  

Beneficial Experience

• Direct experience working at PJM ISO New EnglandNYISO a utility in their footprint or on behalf of these entities as a consultant.

• Experience performing interconnection or transmission planning studies outside Northeast

• Experience with EMT (ideally PSCAD) modelling/studies.
  

• Automation experience (Python C# SQL).
