As Manager Cybersecurity you will lead our security transformation by owning the strategic roadmap and driving the adoption of CIS 18 Controls. You will oversee SOC and GRC functions champion security-first architecture and manage external partnerships for 24/7 monitoring. By leading our incident response efforts and conducting daily environment reviews you will ensure our security initiatives align seamlessly with business goals and IT leadership.

What you will be doing

  • Devise and execute the cybersecurity roadmap ensuring alignment with BURNCOs broader business goals and digital transformation
  • Provide direct oversight of the SOC and GRC functions including mentoring staff conducting performance evaluations and supporting professional development
  • Serve as the senior technical architect for security initiatives
  • Ensure infrastructure modernization projects such as legacy system retirement and identity management are engineered with a security-first mindset
  • Lead the organizations adoption of the CIS 18 Control Framework to transition from a reactive to a proactive security posture
  • Manage relationships with external security partners and specialized consultants to ensure on-demand expertise and 24/7 monitoring
  • Act as the incident commander during major security events overseeing technical response efforts and executive-level communication

What we would like from you

  • 7 years of experience in cybersecurity including a minimum of 5 years in a formal leadership role
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in cloud security (Azure) identity management and vulnerability assessment tools such as Qualys CrowdStrike Cisco Umbrella Abnormal and M365 MDO
  • Strong understanding of implementing security policies maintaining risk registers and aligning with compliance standards such as the CIS Framework
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to build and present effective business cases for security investments to the Director CIO and other stakeholders emphasizing ROI and risk reduction
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to document complex processes and translate technical risks into clear actionable insights for non-technical leadership

Location and other key details:

  • This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Calgary head office: 5055 11th St NE Calgary Alberta
  • The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 40 hours per week with occasional additional hours as required
  • Hybrid schedule: 4 days in-office 1 day remote
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal background check as a condition of employment given the sensitive nature of cybersecurity responsibilities
