DescriptionThe Mechanical Engineer Supervisor leads and supervises the Mechanical Engineering team coordinating activities with cross-functional team leaders. This role translates priorities and performance targets from senior management into individual tasks and goals for team members.
The Supervisor ensures the accuracy and compliance of 3D models drawings and BOMs within the PLM system meeting safety standards design requirements and customer specifications. The role leads efforts to resolve engineering issues impacting production quality cost or delivery.
Additionally the Mechanical Engineer Supervisor tracks team performance maintains KPIs and OKRs reports result to senior management and supports organizational objectives by following Vertiv Behaviors and the Vertiv Operating System.
Typical duties will include but not be limited to preparation or modification of the following:
- Lead and supervise the Mechanical Engineering team managing workload priorities and multiple ongoing projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives engineering projects and cost-reduction (VAVE) opportunities aligned with organizational KPIs and OKRs.
- Provide technical and professional guidance to direct reports acting as mentor and ensuring compliance with engineering standards procedures and company policies.
- Provide engineering support for C&I and Custom Datacenter products identifying root causes and leading solutions to issues impacting production quality cost or delivery.
- Plan coordinate and lead internal and external design reviews technical meetings and web meetings with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Create maintain and review accurate 3D models drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Oracle PLM ensuring design intent manufacturability and compliance with applicable standards.
- Interface with manufacturing operations application engineering sales and contractors to support product design custom quotations and project execution.
- Maintain project schedules engineering trackers and Smartsheet tools ensuring timelines are realistic and achievable.
- Establish monitor and report team KPIs and OKRs in coordination with the Engineering Manager.
- Communicate clearly with management regarding project status quality improvements cost reduction opportunities and technical recommendations.
- Support Datacenter and Custom Thermal teams by providing technical expertise identifying critical path risks and ensuring timely project execution.
Minimum Qualifications: education experience level knowledge skills designations/certifications.
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g. Oracle) and CAD Vault systems.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools such as PTC Creo Autodesk Inventor SolidWorks or similar.
- Advanced understanding of sheet metal design manufacturing practices and engineering processes.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead mentor and motivate small to medium engineering teams (38 engineers).
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills with high attention to detail
- Action-oriented self-starter mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and results delivery.
- Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all organizational levels and customers.
- Experience leading design reviews and participating in customer-facing technical discussions.
- Knowledge of Lean tools KPIs and OKRs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel PowerPoint Word).
- Fluency in English (read write and speak).
- Demonstrated ethics integrity team engagement and commitment to excellence.
