A Brief Overview
Responsible for the accounts payable function including monitoring of statements for past due invoices and resolution of problem invoices in a timely manner. Duties include processing and maintaining accounts payable records.
What you will do
- Code documents according to company procedures.
- Review invoices and check requests for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Understand purchase orders and expense reports.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Work with other areas to perform essential job duties.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record store and analyze information.
- Comply with federal state and company policies procedures and regulations.
- Perform financial calculations such as amounts due interest charges balances and discounts.
- Perform general office duties such as filing scanning answering telephones and handling routine correspondence.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Associates Degree (AA) Associate degree in Accounting or Business Preferred
- 1-3 years previous accounts payable experience Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Office Preferred
- Experience with computerized accounts payable system Preferred
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing managing files and records designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of arithmetic.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of filing guidelines and terms related to purchasing and payment cycles.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Using mathematics to solve problems.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Managing ones own time and the time of others.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying taking time to understand the points being made asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
- The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
