PURPOSE

The Art Museum of South Texas seeks an enthusiastic and creative Education and Engagement Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This position is responsible for developing and implementing engaging educational programs for teens and adults that align with the Museums exhibitions and community initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Curator of Education the Museums curatorial staff and community partners the coordinator will design programs that expand access to the arts foster lifelong learning and strengthen the Museums role as a regional resource for South Texas.

Classification Responsibilities

The Education and Engagement Coordinator works in tandem with the Curator of Education to develop and implement educational programs with CCISD surrounding school districts and community partners providing relevant TEKS-aligned classes for teens both on- and off-site. The Coordinator also creates a vision for adult education programming at AMST including planning coordinating and evaluating public education programs that complement the Museums exhibition schedule. Additional responsibilities include overseeing docent and volunteer training programs maintaining an educational philosophy consistent with the Museums mission and working collaboratively across departments to support institutional goals.

Distinguishing Features

The Education and Engagement Coordinator supervises full- and part-time contracted instructors and volunteers. The position reports to the Curator of Education who provides oversight through goal setting observation and evaluation of program outcomes. This role requires independent initiative strong leadership and the ability to balance creative program design with administrative and operational responsibilities.

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Program Coordination

Percent Effort: 45%

  • Develop innovative teen and adult programs that complement exhibitions and reflect AMSTs mission and educational philosophy

  • Lead AMSTeens the Museums teen arts council fostering youth leadership and creative expression

  • Build partnerships with TAMU-CC school districts and community organizations to expand arts access and engagement

Functional Area 2: Budget and Resource Coordination

Percent Effort: 15%

  • Co-develop and manage teen and adult education budgets with the Curator of Education

  • Purchase organize and maintain art and digital studio supplies ensuring safe and efficient operations

Functional Area 3: Promotional and Interpretative Support

Percent Effort: 25%

  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to promote educational programs through digital print and social media channels

  • Create interpretive and educational materials including gallery guides lesson plans and multimedia content

Functional Area 4: Grant and Evaluation Support

Percent Effort: 15%

  • Assist with writing grants and reports to secure and document funding for education and engagement programs

  • Conduct evaluations and collect feedback to measure program success and guide continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Art Education Museum Studies Art History Studio Art or a closely related field.

  • Two (2) years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching visual art lessons in a classroom or community environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various groups of people.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in Art Education Museum Studies Art History or related discipline.

  • Experience developing and implementing art education or engagement programs for teens and/or adults in a museum school or regional setting.

  • Experience supervising staff interns or volunteers.

  • Experience writing or managing grants.

  • Knowledge of TEKS standards and experience developing TEKS-aligned art curriculum.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite Canva or other digital design and learning platforms.

  • Experience in program evaluation and data collection.

SALARY: Up to $3666.67 Monthly ($44000 Annual Approximately)
