About the role

The Occupational Therapist delivers specialist mental health care for children adolescents and families with complex needs. The role involves assessments therapy program delivery and consultation contributing to recovery community mental health initiatives and quality improvement.

Key duties of the role

  • Assess and develop formulations for both individuals and families
  • Identify customer needs and provide accurate and timely information
  • Implement individual family and other group therapies
  • Identify mental health needs in the community and collaboratively plan execute and evaluate programs to meet those needs.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Australia.
  • Clinical experience in the treatment and management of complex child and adolescent mental health
  • Ability to implement clinical assessments and interventions of a complex nature
  • Demonstrated competence in occupational therapy assessment and treatment
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical work within occupational therapy
