Teacher Librarian

Terms 1 - 4 2026

Temporary (12 Month) 1.0 FTE appointment - with possible extension by mutual agreement

Oakhill College seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and futurefocused Teacher Librarian to join the PJ Walsh Library team in 2026. This role offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant collaborative learning environment where reading inquiry and information literacy are highly valued across the curriculum.

The PJ Walsh Library is a modern learning hub that supports innovative teaching through strong curriculum integration an established wholeschool reading program and collaborative teamteaching across faculties. Working under the leadership of the Academic Head of Library the Teacher Librarian plays a key role in developing students information literacy skills fostering a love of literature and contributing to engaging inquirybased learning experiences.

This position will suit a creative collaborative educator with a passion for contemporary library practice lifelong learning and formal or ongoing study in Librarianship. The role is available due to the current Teacher Librarian acting in a higher duties position for a 12month period and may be ongoing subject to College requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Contribute actively and constructively as a member of the Library team working collegially with teaching staff to evaluate curriculum needs and select appropriate resources to support research and learning;

Hold or be eligible to hold a teaching qualification for Stages 46 (preferable);

Design and deliver effective instruction in information literacy across a range of year levels;

Collaborate with Library staff to support and deliver key initiatives including the Colleges Reading Program with a focus on reading growth and literature skills;

Demonstrate sound capability in ICT and online learning environments;

Work collaboratively with Academic Heads and classroom teachers to support curriculum delivery and associated units of work;

Participate in the Colleges comprehensive pastoral care and co-curricular programs;

Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management practices to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
