King County Metro Transits Employee Services division is seeking a highly organized detail-oriented and proactive HR Associate to join both our Leaves and Disability Services teams. If you are ready to make a meaningful impact on Metros Leaves and Disability Services teams apply today!

The Leaves and Disability Services Associate is a unique position that supports both the Leaves Services and Disability Services teams that will provide critical human resources and administrative support and coordination for various aspects of leave and disability-related services that are offered to over 5000 Metro Transit Employees. This work includes coordinating meeting and training schedules document creation and management record-keeping reporting and analysis responding to inquiries to both teams and supporting the effort to build a centralized leaves administration program for all of Metro.

Our ideal candidate will have exceptional administrative skills demonstrate a sense of urgency in their work project and task management skills a passion for providing excellent service to all levels of staff and the ability to work collaboratively with a group of stakeholders with diverse needs and experience.

Position Info: This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Career ServicesLeaves and Disability Services Associate addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future Career Service (CS) Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and Term Limited Temporary (TLT) positions that may occur in this classification and workgroup. The eligibility pool list is valid for up to 12 months from the time of posting for use at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

You may be successful in this role if you are someone who has:

  • Increasingly responsible administrative support responsibilities in the area of human resources OR any equivalent knowledge skills and experience that provide theability to perform the core competencies of the position.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and understanding of the importance of being exact.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing exceptional customer service and clear communication both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills to support working on a number of projects simultaneously and completing projects within specified deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve and apply good judgment and initiative.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group.
  • The ability to create proofread edit and format documents according to standard business writing practices.
  • Excellent computer skills that include proficiency in: Word Excel Outlook and Share Point.


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge in human resources employment practices and guidelines.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Working familiarity with WLAD ADA FLSA FMLA Title VII and applicable WAC RCWs and court rulings related to disability and industrial insurance.
  • Experience in the use of PeopleSoft or other HRIS system.
  • Experience in the use and application of Origami case management system.

Work Schedule

This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay if scheduled. The work schedule is normally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Variations may be required depending on the demands and needs of the work.

This position is not represented by a union.

Work Location

The work associated with this position is currently being performed in a hybrid fashion including teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business and operational needs. Primary on-site work location is 201 S Jackson St Seattle WA (King Street Center).

Teleworking Requirement

The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office various King County Metro locations and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
