DescriptionThe Pharmacy Technician Candidate under close supervision of a pharmacist fills routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals; counts packages and labels unit doses for inspection by pharmacist and fills routine orders for non-prescription pharmaceuticals. This position relies heavily on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under close supervision of a pharmacist.
Responsibilities- Assisting Pharmacist: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Medications are accurately filled and distributed to the nursing units in a timely and accurate fashion as evidenced by lack of complaints or errors.
- Unit-dose medications are correctly prepared and labeled for distribution to the nursing units as evidenced by documentation in the unit-dose logbook.
- Compounded medications are correctly prepared and labeled for distribution to the nursing units as evidenced by documentation in the compounding logbook.
- Product expiration dates are reviewed as evidenced by lack of expired medications in stock area.
- Medications are reviewed and ordered as evidenced by documentation in want book. Received medications are stocked in the designated area.
- Controlled medications are accurately dispensed/returned to Narcotic Vault 100% of the time as evidenced by reports.
- Other Duties as Assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Basic cash register operations are performed in outpatient pharmacy as evidenced by end day report. Account payments are entered in the system correctly to ensure that accounts receivable is accurate and up to date. Funds are collected properly and deposit is in agreement with the daily sales report 100% of the time.
- Assistance is provided on projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned are completed.
Qualifications- Experience - No minimum experience required
- Education - High School Diploma
- Training - Successful Passing of the National Pharmacy Technician exam within 18 months
- Special Skills - Good Communication Customer Service computer Skills.
- Licensure - Louisiana Board of Pharmacy Work Permit; PHTC
