Comp:$130000 - $160000 base
Job Description
This role owns the control guidance and navigation systems that fly orbital launch vehicles. You will design test and fly the algorithms that determine how vehicles steer stabilize and place payloads into target orbits.
You will operate end-to-end across modeling simulation flight software ground test and live mission operations. This is a hands-on high-ownership engineering role for builders who want to ship real flight systems.
What You Will Do
Develop
- Define system requirements for GNC subsystems and vehicle interfaces
- Design guidance navigation and control algorithms
- Build high-fidelity simulation models and mission trajectories
Test
- Create automated test pipelines across SIL HIL and full-vehicle environments
- Support engine test cells and integrated vehicle testing
- Validate flight software behavior prior to launch
Partner
- Define interfaces and performance requirements with avionics propulsion structures and flight software teams
- Influence architecture decisions for future launch vehicles
Fly
- Support launch operations from mission control
- Own GNC execution and anomaly resolution during countdown and flight
Analyze
- Evaluate flight and ground test data
- Improve model fidelity and performance margins through iteration
Own
- Take full responsibility for major GNC subsystems from design through flight
- Drive system maturity across multiple vehicle generations
- 5 years of aerospace GNC development and simulation experience
- Advanced degree in engineering physics mathematics or equivalent technical discipline
- Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink
- Proficiency in C or Python
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and mentor other engineers
- Comfort operating in fast-paced iterative development environments
Preferred
- Hands-on experience integrating GNC algorithms with flight software
- Familiarity with aerospace dynamics coordinate frames and real-time systems
- Track record of cross-functional technical leadership
- Demonstrated ownership of GNC systems from design through flight
Regulatory & Eligibility Requirements
- Role is subject to U.S. export control regulations including ITAR and EAR
- Employment contingent upon eligibility to access controlled technologies and government contracts as applicable
Required Experience:
Senior IC
