A role in Targets Food Supply Chain is a chance to truly serve our guests with speed freshness and quality. We strengthen the efficiency of product delivery and partner across Targets Global Supply Chain to provide the highest quality food products to our guestson time every time. Here your role might be extracting business insights from data solving problem statements conducting gap analysis and recommending focus areas for leadership. Or youll be an inventory management resource whose specialized point of view informs what we buy from whom how much and where it needs to go from there. Youll leverage inventory positioning to achieve the best possible product availability and establish and develop great relationships with our vendors to encourage on-time join our team in a food distribution center where youre on the very front lines of getting product to the guest as fast as possiblea critical differentiator that keeps Target guests coming back for more.


As a Senior Industrial Engineer you will support the implementation and sustainability of the engineering program across warehouse and delivery operations including but not limited to: designing maintaining and evolving Engineered Labor Standards (ELS); driving process improvement initiatives; configuring systems; and educating field leadership and team members on engineering principles. You will serve as the networks subject matter expert in Labor Management guiding leaders on how to effectively interpret and apply labor standards performance metrics and LMS capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include conducting onsite audits performance validations and analytical reviews of operational processes. You will identify opportunities for improvement determine root causes and establish and maintain standards accordingly. This includes developing clear scalable documentation and standard operating procedures to promote consistency clarity and operational efficiency.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with project stakeholders from concept through execution on initiatives related to process reengineering and operational optimization leveraging standard project management tools (e.g. PMI methodology Lean Six Sigma). In this role youll also partner closely with Senior Industrial Engineers at other manual FDCs to align practices configurations and engineering capabilities across the network.

In addition you will work closely with members of the Engineering & Optimization (E&O) team to ensure cohesive network-wide solutions across all operational areas. As part of the buildings senior leadership team you will also support strategic planning building-wide initiatives and key operational decisions in partnership with site and functional leaders.

About You:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years experience in Industrial Engineering with demonstrated IE concepts (labor utilization workflow and layout process improvement and standardization)
  • Experience with time study tools (QueTech) and methodologies predetermined time systems (MOST MTM or MSD) and labor standards
  • Experience with configuration maintenance and reporting of Labor Management Systems (LMS). Manhattan WMS and AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering optimization methods (Lean Kaizen Six Sigma) and standard project management processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills ability to advocate for and present recommendations to senior leaders
  • Strong analytical critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and conflict management skills including the ability to hold peers accountable and influence without direct authority
  • Strong ability to identify define and resolve ambiguous problems
  • Proven experience in collaborating with and influencing cross functional groups across enterprise
  • Ability to manage and adjust multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office) and ability to adapt quickly to using digital tools
