We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused technician with a background or strong interest in metallurgy and materials testing. The role requires someone who can confidently receive prepare and assess samples using optical microscopy in line with specifications. We are looking for an individual who can manage their own workload effectively to ensure KPI turnaround times are consistently met. Maintaining equipment to a high standard is essential including carrying out routine quality control checks and keeping accurate logs. You will be able to produce clear concise technical reports using Microsoft Office and communicate results professionally.
Required skills and experience:
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Degree or HND in science / engineering preferred.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment preferably metallurgy related would be beneficial.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join our Metallurgical Assessment Team carrying out the preparation of materials and the optical microscopy of components and test pieces to support manufacturing quality control supplier approval and failure investigation. The role will be a day and afternoon shift patterns: Days 06:00 -13:45 Afternoons 14:00- 21:45 rotating weekly. The days of work will be Tuesday to Saturday.
