TheUW Medical Center-Montlake Spiritual Care and Wellbeing Departmenthas an outstanding opportunity for a Spiritual Care Provider (Chaplain).
WORK SCHEDULE
Per Diem
One night Standby/On Call required per week (4 shifts/month)
Day shift coverage periodically available for holiday vacation and weekend coverage
Flexibility of schedule and availability on holiday weekends preferred.
This role requires availability from 4:15 pm-8:00 am.Candidates must be within 45 minutes of the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake campus (1959 NE Pacific St Main Hospital Seattle WA 98195).Spiritual Care Providers do not sleep overnight at the hospital.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
We are currently looking for standby availability for one (or more) of these nights: Thursday Friday Saturday and/or Sunday. Additional opportunities to cover day shifts will be available intermittently (e.g. staff vacations holidays and some weekend shifts)
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultivate and model the UWMC Service Culture Guidelines (Respect Compassion Equity Diversity Inclusion Teamwork Collaboration Innovation and Excellence) and the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
Provide trauma-informed spiritual care to UWMC patients responding to requests for service promptly; documenting spiritual care assessments interventions outcomes plans of care.
Provide excellent clinical care and be an active part of the departments ongoing learning community.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in care coordination of patients and caregivers. Make appropriate referrals to members of the multidisciplinary team.
Support staff wellbeing via rounding Tea for the Soul facilitating formal and informal trauma and critical incident debriefings and grief support.
Effectively assess and address spiritual distress goals of care hopes needs and resources
Effectively communicate with UWMC and Fred Hutch Cancer Center Spiritual Health Teams for highest quality plan of care coordination
Execute handoffs charting and staff care statistics as requested by the department in a timely and effective manner.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent from seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools
Have completed at least one unit of CPE in the ACPE Program. Preference to those who have completed four units of CPE
Must be in good standing with a nationally recognized religious spiritual or philosophical body.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is an on-call/per diem position which will require working weekly standby/on-call shifts from 4:30pm-8:00am. Most Per diems cover a regularly weekly night shift. Covering a night shift makes you eligible to cover day shifts as they emerge for holiday vacation and weekend coverage.
The 16 hour overnight Standby (on-call) shifts originate at home until the Spiritual Care Provider is called into the hospital to support patients family or staff.
