Harborview Medical Center Environmental Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Hospital Custodian SCHEDULE100% FTE (40 hours per week)Day ShiftPOSITION HIGHLIGHTSSupervise a staff of 25 or more custodians and one Custodial Supervisor Train subordinates and performs administrative responsibilities such as recommending supply levels staffing levels staff training requirements and department policies and procedures Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are FirstPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESUnder general direction serve as a second-line supervisor in a custodial departmentWith delegated authority interview and recommend selection of applicants conduct training assign and schedule work act upon leave requests conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary actionDetermines staffing needs of assigned building; analyze workloads and assign work to employeesTrain new staff that have been hired into Housekeeping and Linen departmentsWill supervise the First Shift (Day Shift) staff in the Trauma Emergency Room making sure all areas are cleaned according to policyInspect buildings to determine cleaning needs and job assignments. Monitor hand hygiene compliance retrain as needed and report findings to Operation ManagerPrepare reports related to custodial services such as equipment inventories and custodial proceduresREQUIREMENTSThree years of experience in custodial or general maintenance workTwo years of experience as a Custodian Supervisor 1 An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirementsABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the regions only Level I Trauma and verified burn center Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
