Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

Classroom/Laboratory ManagementManage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Curriculum Development Develop monitor and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.

Resource Management Manageequipment supplies and materials necessary for instructional activities.

Student Assessment Assessstudent performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

Student Advising Advisesstudents on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey.

CollaborationCollaborate with advisory committees colleagues and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Meeting Participation Attenddepartmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making.

Promotion and Recruitment Promoteeducational programs participate in student recruitment efforts and support initiatives to retain students.

Student Support Supportstudent organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.

Industry Engagement Developand maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.

Evaluation and Professional Development Completeprogram evaluations engage in continuous professional development and stay current in the field.

Additional Duties Performother related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.

Qualifications

Educational RequirementsMasters Degree in Paralegal Studies;

Must have a Masters degree in one of the following:

  1. Paralegal Studies
  2. Legal Studies
  3. Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school
Occupational experience Must have a minimum of three (3) years full-time or equivalent (6000 hours) work experience as an Attorney or Paralegal.
In addition one of the following must be met:
  1. One year(2000 hours) of related work experience as an attorney must have occurred within the last five years along with demonstrated experience working with a paralegal in a legal setting
  1. Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related are a post-secondary level within the last five years.

Essential Technology Experience with an Email system (Gmail Outlook)Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system and Computer- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
Essential Supportive TechnologyExperience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising student programs grading class schedules and rosters

  • Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems

  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium interactive touch screen monitors LCD projectors DVD players and/or other classroom technology

  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

HoursThis position is a .5 FTE the number of hours worked per week will vary based on course load. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours Monday - Friday

Application Materials:

  • Unofficial Transcripts for all degrees earned from an accredited institution. Transcripts must show the degree awarded/conferred

SalaryThe hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable

InterviewsSelected candidates will be invited to interview at a date to be determined. As part of the interview process selected candidates are required to prepare a teaching demonstration which may be conducted in-person or virtually.
