Were excited to announce an opening for a Safety & Compliance Officer to support our northern territory including Belgrade Genoa Silver Creek Osceola Duncan Oconee Tarnov Bellwood Schuyler David City Garrison Brainard and Dwight. Applicants must be based in this area.

Essential duties:

  • Promote a positive safety culture through teamwork communication training and accountability to protect employees and company assets.
  • Monitor and research safety regulations and assist in developing updating and modifying safety policies manuals programs standards and procedures.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training curricula using internal and external resources; may develop and present training for small or large groups including forklift safety fall protection LOTO confined space/bin entry and anhydrous ammonia.
  • Coordinate the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) site-specific standards and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify hazards and reduce employee injury risk.
  • Partner with operations management to develop corrective action plans and ensure employees receive proper safety training.
  • Review and update Risk Management Plans preventive maintenance and housekeeping logs training records Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and LOTO procedures at all locations.
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations including vehicle and machinery incidents and document findings through written reports and photographs.
  • Review first reports of incidents near misses property damage and occupational illnesses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Compile accident statistics and assist with preparing reports and maintaining safety records.
  • Coordinate safety programs including respirator fit testing PPE programs fire extinguisher inspections OSHA 300 logs and Tier II reporting.
  • Participate in safety committees new employee orientation and all safety training programs.
  • Lead a safety committee subcommittee by selecting members assigning inspections and ensuring accurate documentation of findings.
  • Assist with annual facility inspections by conducting OSHA-based audits across operational locations to assess and recognize safety compliance levels.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training workshops industry publications and professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support customers and enhance company productivity.


Job skills and requirements:

  • Strong teamwork skills with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze safety issues identify hazards and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEQ standards safety principles and compliance practices particularly within the agriculture industry.
  • Effective conflict resolution problem-solving coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Strong verbal written and electronic communication abilities; comfortable presenting to individuals and groups of all sizes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office internet systems and safety-related software.
  • Ability to apply common-sense judgment and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Management or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of progressive safety and compliance experience preferably in a similar industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned trade territory.
