Were looking for a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Data Engineering and Data Analytics whos passionate about building production-grade AI systems. Someone who thrives on solving complex technical problems thinks in systems and ships solutions that are both elegant and efficient.

What youll do

• Ship production value every week: features improvements and measurable fixes with predictable throughput.
• Own and improve our highly innovative and unique Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) stack from data ingestion and indexing over retrieval optimization and quality assurance to LLM evaluation and integration.
• Create transparency by LLM-tracing and -logging along entire chat conversations to identify potential risks early of degrading answer quality.
• Optimize and extend our dashboard- and reporting functionalities that create transparency about measurable answer accuracy performance and value delivered by our AI.
• Ensure high performance and reliability of our Python-based backend-services which power our API and give our customer direct access to our AI.
• Build and optimize data pipelines that integrate data from external sources (e.g. PIM DAM Blob Storage FTP Servers) and internal sources (e.g. S3 Databases API).
• Improve our Webscraping-Technology to allow easy and automated integration of website content for our customers.
• Manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and ensure cost-efficient secure and highly available deployments.
• Contribute directly to quarterly OKRs with clear milestones and measurable results.
• Deliver changes with appropriate tests (unit/integration) and reduce regressions through disciplined engineering practices.
• Build with a strong product mindset: clarify the why propose smart trade-offs and iterate post-release based on outcomes.
• Collaborate with Product Customer Success and Sales to translate real-world business complexity into scalable maintainable solutions.
• Contribute to a team culture of transparency low ego / high standards and proactive unblocking.

Requirements

What youll bring

• 5 years of experience in software engineering ideally in Python-based SaaS or AI systems.
• Deep knowledge of LLM and RAG concepts (retrieval pipelines embeddings prompt orchestration evaluation).
• Implementation of concrete RAG solutions beyond the usual frameworks (LangChain LlamaIndex HayStack etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Data Visualization from conceptual design to actual implementation with frameworks like Plotly.
• Experience with building and maintaining webscrapers using frameworks like BeautifulSoup for productive usage.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and data modeling; experience with Qdrant is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (RDS S3 Lambda) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Strong debugging and observability mindset you care about uptime latency and real-world performance.
• Familiarity with secure architectures and GDPR-compliant environments.
• Strong quality mindset: testing code reviews maintainability and CI/CD discipline.
• Ownership mentality for production: you care about uptime performance and fast root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; you keep stakeholders aligned and risks visible.
• Curiosity and initiative you love solving hard problems to learn share and apply new concepts to improve our platform.
• Fluent in English (German is a plus but not required).

Nice to have

• Experience building enterprise ready AI applications (RAG knowledge bases LLM integrations).
• Background in cloud cost optimization observability (Prometheus Grafana) or performance engineering.
• Contributions to open-source AI tools or frameworks.
• Interest in explainable AI evaluation pipelines or model observability tooling.
