Position Description:

The Viral Hepatitis (VH) Program within the Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is currently hiring for a licensed practical nurse to join the Jail Vaccination Team. This is a contract position.

Primary job duties will include but are not limited to:

Plan and conduct vaccination clinics within county jails across East and Northeast Tennessee; travel required
Educate justice-involved individuals about vaccinations and viral hepatitis prevention
Properly store transport and administer vaccinations according to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) handling guidance
Document patient information according to standards of care
Complete patient health records (electronic and paper)
Track and report number of vaccines administered at each clinic site and educational materials provided
Participate in programmatic calls with project supervisor and/or viral hepatitis teams
Communicate with internal and external entities
Maintain patient health files and legal record of service

Contractor Registered Nurse Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). A valid drivers license.

Examination Method: Education and Experience 100%

Location: East Tennessee Regional Health Office (Knoxville TN)

Travel: 40-60% (within Knox County East and Northeast Public Health Regions)
