Software Engineer, Java Agent Experience

The Agent Experience team at Squarespace builds the engine that powers our world-class Customer Operations department. Our mission is to empower over 600 support professionals with high-leverage tools that resolve hundreds of thousands of customer requests daily.

As a Backend Engineer on this team you arent just maintaining internal tools. You are architecting a high-throughput ecosystem that combines personalised self-help guidance usability and technical excellence. Youll work alongside Senior and Staff engineers Data Analysts and the Customer Operations department to solve complex technical challenges and ensure that our Customer Operations Agents have the tools necessary to empower our customers business growth.

This is a hybrid role based 3 days a week out of our office in Dublin Ireland. The Agent Experience team is centered in Dublin and the successful candidate will report to the Engineering Team Manager in our Dublin office.

You will get to...

• Design and evolve highly scalable Java backend services that handle massive traffic and data volumes.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to build new applications and features that directly impact our support agents efficiency and the customers success.
• Lead projects from discovery to deployment ensuring our systems remain fast secure and resilient.
• Contribute to our technical strategy participate in code reviews and help maintain the overall health and modernity of our tech stack.
• Work closely with your hybrid team in our Dublin office to foster a culture of mentorship and rapid iteration.

Who we are looking for...

• You have 3 years of professional experience building robust backend systems in Java (or similar JVM languages)
• Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
• You have a track record of working on large-scale production software and understand the nuances of distributed systems.
• You are comfortable working with complex API integrations and understand how to design clean maintainable interfaces.
• You dont just write code; you enjoy digging into high-volume production challenges to find the most efficient solution.
• You have excellent communication skills and can translate complex technical concepts into clear ideas for cross-functional partners in Product Design and Operations.
