Job Summary
Utility Locator/Surveyor Helper
Assists surveyor in obtaining data pertaining to angles elevation points and contours to determine precise location and measurements used for construction and locating/marking underground utilities.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for construction and land surveys.
- Calls out readings or writes station number and reading in notebook.
- Marks points of measurement with elevation station number or other identifying marks.
- Marks measuring points with marking crayon or stakes.
- Places stakes into ground at designated points using hammer and hatchet
- Experience locating underground utilities.
- Experience with calculator and computer.
- May include working in extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
- Requires working safely and following the rules with a good attitude.
- Requires standing on feet and walking for extended periods of time.
