Description

The Service & Team:

This role sits within the Homeless Prevention Service which is dedicated to reducing homelessness and providing tailored support to individuals and families in housing need. You will be responsible for the line management of one of the five Casework teams.

The Role:

As part of this role you will lead a team that takes Housing Act applications from members of the public who are threatened with or already homeless carrying out detailed assessments to determine the Councils legal duties under homelessness legislation. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and delivering fair consistent decisions.

You will lead and support a team of Homeless Prevention Caseworkers ensuring:

  • Compliance with legislation and internal policies
  • Quality assurance and performance monitoring
  • Staff well-being and development through coaching mentoring and supervision
  • A positive collaborative culture that drives continuous improvement and excellent customer service
This is a customer-facing role and therefore the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for this position.

Working Pattern:

Monday to Friday 9:00 am 5:00 pm.

Hybrid working arrangement combining home and office-based work with an expectation to attend the offices (throughout Cornwall) and work alongside the Homeless Prevention teams at least two days per week.

    • Proven experience in leading motivating and supporting a team to achieve service targets and deliver high-quality outcomes.
    • Ability to provide clear direction coaching and mentoring to staff fostering a positive and high-performing culture.
    • Skilled in managing performance ensuring compliance and promoting staff wellbeing.

    • Ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.

    • Experience in allocating resources effectively.

    • Ability to adapt to change and respond constructively to challenges.
