Job Duties:
  • Teaching assignment may include a full range of courses within the Criminal Justice Generalist program and undergraduate courses such as: Introduction to Criminal Justice Police Procedures Basic Criminal Investigation Introduction to Corrections Dynamics of Substance Abuse The Court Function etc.
  • Teaching assignment may include day evening weekend on-campus and/or on-line courses.
  • Teaching responsibilities include teaching courses maintaining scheduled office hours advising students developing curriculum and participating in College service and professional development activities.
  • Leadership in developing and improving our academic courses.
  • Community service is encouraged.
Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related degree required. Masters degree in Criminal Justice or related degree with at least 18 credit hours of graduate work in Criminal Justice course preferred.
  • 4000 documented hours of work experience in the criminal justice field required 5 years or more documented experience preferred.
  • All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with students staff community members area employers and members of other institutions of higher learning.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Teaching experience at the community college level both in the face-to face classroom and online.
  • Experience and/or interest in using multi-media/new instructional technology in the classroom.
  • Experience in using Canvas or similar college level learning management systems.
  • The ability to teach a variety of courses in the criminal justice arena including courses in law enforcement investigation homeland security the courts substance abuse awareness and corrections.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with local law enforcement and corrections agencies.
  • Background and experience in one or more of the criminal justice fields of law enforcement corrections and/or homeland security.
