CertifiedPre-Owned (CPO) Technician
Skilled automotive professional responsible for transforming used vehicles into certified inventory by performing rigorous multi-point inspections and mechanical reconditioning. Ensure vehicles meet stringent manufacturer standards for safety reliability and performance before being sold with extended warranties.
Will be responsible for inspecting vehicles diagnosing issues completing repairs and parts replacements and carrying out routine maintenance procedures to support the longevity of all vehicles that come through the shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Multi-Point Inspections:Conduct exhaustive evaluations (often 150 to 190 points) covering engine performance electrical systems brakes and safety components.
- Diagnosis & Repair:Identify and fix malfunctions in complex systems including transmissions drivetrains and electronic controls.
- Mechanical Reconditioning:Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes fluid flushes and tire replacements to bring vehicles to like-new condition.
- Documentation:Maintain meticulous records of all repairs and inspections to satisfy manufacturer warranty requirements and state safety standards.
- Road Testing:Conduct test drives both before and after repairs to verify vehicle stability and ensure all issues are resolved.
Required Qualifications
- Certifications: Prefer ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)certifications.
- Experience: Requires 25 years of automotive repair experience particularly in a dealership or high-volume service environment.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools computerized engine analyzers and specialized shop equipment.
- Legal Requirements: A valid drivers license with a clean driving record and a state inspectors license.
