**Travel to Office expectations**
For Remote Roles: If this role is remote there will be in-office events that will require travel to and from the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City office. These will include but not limited to onboarding team events semi-annual and annual team meetings.
For Hybrid Roles: If this role is Hybrid there will be an expectation to reside within commutable distance to the office/location specified in the job listing. This will include but not limited to weekly/bi-weekly/monthly events in the office with your specific team. This is a requirement for this role.
Role Summary
As a Developer Experience Engineer youll build tools systems and processes that improve the productivity satisfaction and effectiveness of software developers across the organization. Youll work closely with engineering teams to understand pain points and deliver solutions that streamline workflows reduce friction and promote best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Experience leveraging AI-powered coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code GitHub Copilot or similar) to improve developer productivity onboarding and code quality.
- Ability to evaluate and integrate AI tools into developer workflows for tasks such as code generation documentation and testing.
- Design build and maintain internal tools libraries and automation that improve developer workflows.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to identify and address developer pain points.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in CI/CD testing observability and code quality.
- Monitor and improve metrics related to developer productivity and satisfaction.
- Contribute to documentation onboarding materials and internal developer education.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong software engineering background (e.g. Java Python or similar).
- Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with developer tooling (e.g. linters formatters IDE plugins).
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Experience integrating or building AI-powered developer tools (e.g. code assistants intelligent search automated documentation).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on internal platforms or developer tooling.
- Familiarity with metrics and telemetry (e.g. Prometheus Grafana).
- Contributions to open-source DevEx tools or frameworks
