Job Summary

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Preference may be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications possess the following:

  • Strong understanding in Linux Operating System (Red Hat variants preferred)
  • Familiarity with configuration and patch management solutions system monitoring solutions enterprise backup solutions and virtualization and orchestration tools
  • Programming skills in a scripting language and language used for system automation such as Perl Python or Powershell
  • An understanding of Operating Systems and Storage concepts protocols and industry standards
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas and general understanding of multiple areas: System Virtualization Storage Area Networks (SAN) Network Attached Storage (NAS) Enterprise backup and recovery/Data Protection System Automation Cloud Computing Operating systems RedHat and system hardware
  • Experience in operating system performance tuning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a large heterogeneous and higher education environment

Position Overview:

Georgia State Universitys Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator Intermediate with expertise in Operating Systems Hardware and Storage. This role contributes to the development of new solutions enhancement of existing systems and resolution of complex technical systems.

Key Responsibilities

The scope of responsibilities for this position will include but is not limited to the following essential duties:

Systems Design and Implementation

Analyze test design and implement solutions to meet customer requirements.

System Maintenance and Security

Deploy systems apply patches and perform upgrades.

Conduct general maintenance and repair patches to ensure system security availability reliability and functionality.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

Provide technical assistance recovery support and services for centrally managed systems.

Deliver level two support by monitoring diagnosing and resolving moderate-to-complex multi-system issues across operating systems virtual hardware and/or storage supported by the Enterprise Computing group.

Documentation and Process Management

Document system configurations installations and maintenance processes.
