The Health Sciences Lab Specialist performs a variety of standardized and specialized clinical and laboratory duties requiring the general application of established policies and procedures. Maintains the dental clinic and health science laboratory inventory including equipment supplies and instruments. Performs routine maintenance of clinical and laboratory equipment using OSHA standards. Maintains data files and records. Prepares clinics and laboratories with the appropriate setup including equipment instruments and displays for student instruction. Serves as the safety officer for the associated clinic and laboratory activities. Assimilates and retrieves data to complete required reports verifying the accuracy of the data. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the dental clinic and laboratory areas as well as the equipment and orders supplies and materials as needed. When called upon will serve as the dental office receptionist by answering the telephone providing information and making appointments. Provides excellent customer service skills. Reports to the Supervisor Health Sciences Learning Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with an associate degree in an allied health field; two years full-time related experience in a medical/dental field within the last five years. Computer literacy including experience with Excel and Word. Previous experience with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines. Priority will be given to a Certified Dental Assistant.
