Job Summary

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. Position overview

  • Paid internship with the State of Montanas captive insurance regulatory team
  • Captive insurers are companies that insure their own risks and state regulators review their finances governance and compliance to protect policyholders and the public
  • Handson experience in financial analysis accounting and insurance regulation in a supportive mentoring environment

What youll do

  • Support a major annual review of all Montana-domiciled captive insurers doing the analytical leg work with guidance from senior staff
  • Analyze financial statements ratios and trends and help prepare concise summaries for regulatory decisionmaking
  • See behindthescenes how captives are formed licensed and supervised and the types of regulatory issues that arise in practice

What youll learn

  • Practical skills in reading and interpreting statutory and GAAP financial statements
  • How to connect numbers to realworld risk solvency and business decisions
  • Insight into captive insurance alternative risk financing and state regulatory processes
  • Professional communication skills: framing questions presenting findings and defending your analysis
